That's right - however the particular parasite in question isn't running a
stock photographic site, he's an affiliate marketer looking to get sales of
his book, people to sign up to sell his book, and people to ultimately click
on ads on his site - his stock in trade IS search engine rankings, and
propogating his link will help him achieve his goals - goals that also have
the effect of bringing more people into microstock, too... all round, the
less times his link is mentioned, the better...

Post by Stockphoto SellerOf course, search engine rankings are largely meaningless for the stock
photography industry, with search hits having almost no correlation with
sales. Indeed, some of us do not want search engine access to our
specialized images, preferring to give access only to legitimate clients.
Rankings of hits from legitimate stock photo users would be another matter,
but that is not at all what the search engine rankings give. It's better to
spend one's time/money promoting to potential photo users rather than
fiddling around with tweaks to improve one's general, meaningless search
rankings.

And of course, if there is ONE thing a scamming affiliate marketer loves
more than someone visiting his site, it's the link to the site making it
into some forums so it'll go up in search engine rankings, etc - don't give
the parasites the publicity...
